We all feel stress at times. It's part of being human. It's a natural warning system, a powerful protective mechanism that's helped us survive and evolve as a species. 

Stress occurs when you're faced with a challenging situation and the body activates certain resources, releasing chemicals into the blood to help you. These chemicals can trigger a faster heart rate, alertness, and muscles fully prepared for action. This state can be very beneficial for a short time if you’re in genuine danger. A little bit of stress can also be good in short-term situations like public speaking, sports, or the performing arts where you can use the energy and alertness to improve your performance. But the stress response can work against you if sparked by needless worry or anxiety over a longer period of time with no direct physical or emotional outlet to release it.
